Prof. Carles Fernández

School of Health Science Blanquerna, Ramón Llull University (SP)

Bachelor of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine by the University of Wales and Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy by the School of Health Science Blanquerna (Ramón Llull University), has combined clinical practice, teaching and research. He is currently a professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences Blanquerna and researcher of the research group Global Research on Wellbeing (GRoW) of the same faculty.

His interest in clinical research has led him to pursue a PhD in Methodology of Biomedical Research and Public Health at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, developing his thesis on the efficacy of acupuncture in the treatment of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.

In the context of his doctoral thesis, he has made a research stay in the Centre for Evidence-Based Chinese Medicine at the University of Beijing, where he has developed different projects related to the effectiveness and methodological quality of studies on acupuncture.

He is a member of the Scientific Society of Acupuncture of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands (SCACB) and of the Acupuncture Commission of the Official College of Physiotherapists of Catalonia in which he has collaborated to disseminate the scientific evidence of acupuncture.
